candles spelling hope

Michael Volland moved to Gloucester with his wife, Rachel, in June 2006.

Shortly after they arrived, Michael was ordained as a pioneer minister and commissioned to grow a fresh expression of church in the city centre. (Michael was also the curate at the cathedral, so there is a continuing link with an ancient place of worship and the community that gather there)

Our stories can be found in the "a few stories" section above, this tells you what happened next. Michael has also written a book entitled "Through the Pilgrim Door" detailing the first two years of feig.

Why feig? What does feig mean?

The emerging community will give it meaning. It will mean what we are becoming.

Labels are often not all that helpful, which is why we avoided naming ourselves for as long as possible. feig is an

emerging expression of the body of Christ in Gloucester.

feig is us, and we are church.

Michael has now moved on to Cranmer Hall, Durham and we are continuing this journey awaiting the appointment of a new priest.

This is where we are now. If new faces come and join us, they will help to shape what we are becoming.

feig is not something to 'come and see' - as if we are advocating a particular style of worship, or trying to be the answer to the issues facing local churches.

feig is simply a space for people who want to explore Christian faith, particularly those who may not connect with more traditional expressions of church.

If this is you, we would love you to be in touch, or to come along to any of the things we are hosting.
